The Bride
A historic manor, a stone staircase, a satin dress that catches every gram of light. "The Bride" is my favorite bridal editorial: I wanted to show what a bride can look like once we drop the well-behaved poses and treat the wedding like a magazine shoot.
I shot in the evening with direct flash, along the staircases and banisters of the manor. Silver satin turns almost liquid under hard light, and the dark wood pushes the silhouette forward like a stage set. A handful of black-and-white frames tie the whole thing to the magazines of the '90s.
A session like this slips naturally into the wedding day: we borrow 20 minutes after sunset, just the bride, the dress and my light. These are the pictures you will end up framing.
